Haïku d'hiver traduits du japonais par Roger Munier et Maurice Coyaud snow

Quand je me retournai
l’homme qui me croisait
s’était perdu dans le brouillard
Masaoka Shiki ( M.)

 » Les latrines sont ici ! «
hennit un cheval
Nuit froide
Kobayashi Issa (C.)

Désolation hivernale –
à la traversée d’un hameau
un chien aboie
Masaoka Shiki (M.)

Chat perdu
Dans le jardin. C’est l’hiver
Masaoka Shiki (C.)

Il n’y a plus ni ciel ni terre
rien que la neige
qui tombe sans fin
Hashin (M.)

Faisant de la quiétude
mon seul compagnon –
solitude hivernale
Teïga (M.)

Pluie d’hiver
Une souris passe
sur le koto
Yosa Buson (C.)

De la dent qui me reste
je mords le pinceau gelé
la nuit
Yosa Buson (C.)

Tandis qu’on distribue
les veilleuses dans les chambres
le cri du cerf !
Kyoshi (M.)

Dans le clair de lune glacé
de petites pierres
crissent sous les pas
Yosa Buson (M.)

Le Bouddha de la lande –
du bout de son nez
pend un glaçon
Kobayashi Issa (M.)

You can take our word for it: Americans don’t trust each other anymore. An AP-GfK poll conducted last month found that Americans are suspicious of each other in everyday encounters. Less than a third expressed a lot of trust in clerks who swipe their credit cards, drivers on the road, or people they meet when traveling. However, there are still trusters around to set an example like Dennis Hess who runs an unattended farm stand on the honor system. Customers pick out their produce, tally their bills and drop the money into a slot, making change from an unlocked cashbox. « When people from New York or New Jersey come up, » said Hess, « they are amazed that this kind of thing is done anymore. » (AP Photo/Matt Rourke)

It’s OK order famotidine At Kagoshima, we hopped in taxis to get to the ferry station for the ride to Tanegashima. We had a little while to wait before shipping out, and I had my first experience ordering food from what looked like a vending machine for a sit-down meal. Step one, look at the picture menu. Step two, feed in your money. Step three, match the price and the Japanese letters to the button on the machine. The waitress was very helpful, despite the language barrier, and took the ticket the machine spit out to put the order in. I couldn’t tell from the picture what the meat was that came with my curry rice — it turned out to be chicken, and the whole meal was quite tasty.

« There’s not really any way to verify from the outside that the vast majority of people who want to enroll can now do so, but we’ll find out at least anecdotally over the coming days if the system can handle the traffic and provide a smooth experience for people trying to sign up, » said Larry Levitt, a senior adviser at the Kaiser Family Foundation.
